Anniversary Getaway

To celebrate our baker's dozen...by the way, I thought the timing of our 13 year anniversary was impeccable...thirteen...baker's dozen...more than a cookie...
Anyway, we decided to take a long weekend Sat - Tues and go to another city in Poland where we could potentially be living in the near future to open another cafe. The city is called Wroclaw[spelled phonetically in English it would be-- Vrotswav]. This city surprised us with it's quaint charm and romantic atmosphere...granted we were there celebrating our love without kids so that may have had something to do with the romantic feeling...
We fell in love instantly with this city.

The city of Wroclaw is actually a cluster of islands joined by over 100 bridges so there are these gorgeous waterways everywhere.

This was our favorite building in the main square.

the pretty fountain

There were cool archways all over Old Town

We stayed in the most beautiful hotel we've ever stayed in. It is called Art Hotel and it's situated right in the main square. Our beautiful suite...

...with a king sized bed...
...and a huge bathroom.

Our hotel also had a beautiful restaurant...
...with this gorgeous garden room

Right when we got into town on Saturday we found this cute little Mexican restaurant. We both love Mexican food. Probably needless to say, it is hard to find good Mexican over here in Europe...so we decided to try this place and we LOVED it! We ate here twice in the 4 days we were in Wroclaw.

We had a romantic dinner the first evening at our hotel restaurant and then we went out and walked around the square and found this adorable little cafe called cho[co]ffee. We got some fun chocolates and cuddled on the chocolate-brown couch sipping lattes and talking until they closed at 10:00

they had these cute ones shaped like lips...FYI: the word for lips in Polish is USTA

We didn't even bother to wipe the chocolate off of our mouths before we took this one.

It was gorgeous weather our second day so we went to this romantic little island that one of our Polish friends told us about. It turned out to be every bit as lovely as she had said.

We also LOVE Indian food. We found the best Indian restaurant for dinner our second night. We were talking to the girls at the restaurant after dinner and found out that there is a Starbucks in Wroclaw so we immediately went there for a taste of home!
My fave--Caramel MacchiatoHis fave--Latte

On our last day, we climbed the ONE MILLION (spiral) stairs to the top of the tower of a cathedral for a great view of the city.

Our last evening in Wroclaw was July 20th, our anniversary. It was such a wonderful evening. We went out to an American restaurant called Rodeo Drive [Texas BBQ]. The food was so good. The weather was perfect so we sat outside on the square...

The sun was setting as we were finishing our dinner...

As we reflected back over the past year...this one was our most challenging, most difficult, a year of transitons and major changes but it was through all of the challenges that we had the opportunity to grow closer to God and to each other and it was what made this anniversary the most special so far...We are grateful to be where we are now and we give God all the glory. We are so blessed in our marriage and our family and looking forward to the next 13 years.

"For I know the plans I have for you" declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares the Lord.
Jeremiah 29:11-14
