When in Lancaster...

...do as the Amish do? Yes, this is in my back yard! When we first moved back from Ukraine, my dear grandmother generously gave us her mint-condition washer/dryer set that was at the very least already 20 - 25 years old. So, after 4 years of dedicated service to our family...the dryer finally passed. With the sale of our house and possible move overseas, we find it silly to invest in a new dryer. So, here we are hanging clothes on the line outside strung between our deck and our swingset. [To say I feel Amish] This would actually be an insult to the Amish...they've got the designer clothesline with the whole rope and pulley system! I don't think they even have to leave their houses to hang out their clothes.

We always hung all our clothes to dry during the summers growing up :) I loved hanging the clothes and checking them to see if they were dry. You don't see clothes hanging much anymore. I remember how great the sheets smelled after drying outside! Our dryers always bread down in the winter :(

Oops! I meant break down in the winter.

at least you live in an area where the clothes will actually dry out...the humidity here wouldn't do! And I would hate to think how many little lizards/geckos would be on my clothes when I took them down!:)

Just say that you're "going green" and everyone will be so impressed at your dedication to the environment :) Just think about how much money you're saving too!!!
